🏆 The Superlatives 🏆

The Cutest Couple

We know that one particular couple (you know the one) has consumed the headlines, but we can’t get enough of model Winnie Harlow and her beau, Washington Wizards’ Kyle Kuzma. The couple started dating back in 2020 when Kyle slid into Winnie’s DMs. After conversing for a month, Kuz sent a private jet to fly Winnie out to see him in Cali during COVID. Can we just say, ENERGY, honey! They tell the cute story in this video. The couple was also featured in the GQ Sports Valentine’s Day Series. Love that for them.

The Riveting Rivals

Ol boy over there is acting out again. Draymond Green is picking up where his bad attitude left off after his suspension. The Golden State Warriors and Green faced off against Jusuf Nurkic and the Phoenix Suns for the first time since “the incident” back in December. After the two continued to throw (physical) jabs at one another on the court, they traded words on X, the artist formerly known as Twitter. Guess you can’t teach old dogs new tricks. Hate that for them.

🏈 Trophies, Trophies: The Kansas City Chiefs showed that they have nothing left to prove as they won Super Bowl LVIII with a score of 25-22 against the San Francisco 49ers. While the game wasn’t super exciting for the first half, both teams definitely applied pressure during the fourth quarter, tying the game and heading into overtime. Fun fact: The game was only the second Super Bowl in NFL History to go into OT. Maybe that’s why there seemed to be so much confusion about the rules (but we’ll get into that a little later.) The Chiefs also made history as the first team since the 2003-2004 New England Patriots to win back-to-back Super Bowls. This win is the Chief’s third SB win in five years… and that, folks, is called a dynasty.

After the Lakers lost to the Atlanta Hawks a couple weeks ago, LeBron let it be known that he wasn’t impressed by the lack of consistency by his team. Well, the Warrior’s owner, Joe Lacob, noticed that there was trouble in paradise and popped up faster than that “friend” after you break up with your bae. He told his people to call the Lakers’ people and try to set something up. Both LeBron and the Lakers hit him with, “Nah, I’m good, love, enjoy.”

Guess the people dreaming of a team with both Steph Curry and LeBron James will just have to keep on dreaming.

🏀 ALLLL STARRR….*to the tune of WOOORRRLD STARRR*: It’s that time of year again…NBA All-Star weekend kicks off this Friday, February 16, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the fan-fave events will return to include the dunk contest, the 3-point contest, and, of course, the All-Star game itself. However, this year, Steph Curry will take on the WNBA’s Sabrina Ionescu for a 3-point showdown. How did we get here? Well, Sabrina competed in the WNBA All-Star 3-point shooting contest last year and blew the competition out of the water by scoring 37 pts out of a possible 40. That record-breaking performance caused even the best 3-point shooter in NBA history to feel like he had something to prove.

Many NBA stars have weighed in on who they believe will win. After some back and forth, Kevin Durant is sticking with his old teammate, Curry, and Kyrie Irving is keeping the rivalry alive by picking Ionescu. BUT the real shock comes from Klay Thompson, Steph’s longtime teammate and splash brother, who picked….Ionescu. Those splashes apparently come with SHADY BOOTS! Check out the full schedule and tune in this weekend.

🏈 It Ain’t My Fault: It would seem that a few 49ers players were unaware of the postseason overtime rules…as were quite a few of you.

The rules changed in the 2022-2023 season so that both teams get an opportunity to possess the ball. Before that, scoring a touchdown on the opening drive would result in winning the game. This caused the odds to be ever in favor of the receiving team. Many Instafans and couch coaches have chastised the 49ers players, saying these were just excuses and reminding everyone that even with the old OT rules, the Chiefs would have had an opportunity to get the ball and score a touchdown. This may be true, but the 49ers probably would not have chosen to receive the ball first if they truly understood the rules.

Had they chosen to kick the ball first, the 49ers would’ve known how many points they needed to score in order to win and wouldn’t have kicked a field goal on 4th and 4. And for all those geniuses yelling, “THE REF EXPLAINED IT DURING THE COIN TOSS”, let’s be honest. Do you listen to the flight attendants when they’re telling you how not to die at the start of the flight? Didn’t think so. All this to say, Kyle Shanahan, of all people, should have known to plan for overtime, seeing as how he was coaching on the losing side in the only other Super Bowl that had an overtime….he’s gotta be having DEJA VU; right, Beyoncé?

🏀 Let’s Get Ready to Rumble: No, we’re not talking about boxing…that would be too on the nose. Get this, Pistons’ center Isaiah Stewart was arrested on Valentine’s Day for punching Suns’ player Drew Eubanks in a pregame skir-fuffle before their teams played. Now, Isaiah, why are you fighting on capitalism’s day of love? But are we surprised? I mean, this is the same man whose claim to fame is trying to charge at Lebron James like a bull. Maybe he should try to channel that energy and aggression into something more constructive…like winning.

Spring training starts at the end of this month, so let’s talk baseball. Your sports term of the week is: change-up.

A change-up is an off-speed pitch that looks fast, but arrives at the plate much slower. There are many variations, but, all in all, it’s meant to be deceptive.

IRL example: It’s like a skort…you thought I was in a mini skirt, but alas, it’s got shorts attached… and makes my parents more comfortable.

The Super Bowl is always a star-studded event, and this year was no different. Let's get into some Super Bowl Lewks from a few favs, shall we?

We begin with Queen Bey…

Bey served us some country glam in a black Dolce & Gabbana mini dress and finished the look with a few accessories that gave it a country flare. She didn’t just serve us a country ‘fit… she also dropped two new singles from Renaissance Part II, which are, you guessed it, country songs. We know you girlies all want to get into formation, so here are a few pieces to help you jump on the country wave. You can find them here and here.

Next up, the ageless Gabrielle Union.

Our girl Gabby kicked up her boots to enjoy the Usher concert, and what boots they were! We were kicking our heels when we saw that Schultz had a similar pair on sale that you can shop here.

And last but CERTAINLY not least, we HAVE to acknowledge our dear, sweet, incredible Usher.

The Superstar had us saying OMG when he came out in his all-white outfit. Ohh, he makes us wanna…buy these pieces to match our boooOOOoo.

Grab yours and dazzle your social circles in your winter whites.
