Sports Recap: Yikes! Supes Embarrassing for Them
This week in NFL
Lamar Jackson made his haters and doubters look foolish with his performance on Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback helped lead his team to victory over the Miami Dolphins with a final score of 59-16.
But nothing was quite as embarrassing as watching the Minnesota Vikings get beat at home by the Green Bay Packers as both teams raced to secure a spot in the playoffs with a final score of 33-10, with the Packers taking the W.
This week in NBA
The Detroit Pistons finally broke their 28-game record-tying losing streak against the Toronto Raptors after the Raptors traded one of their best players, O.G. Anunoby. The game was basically trash on trash on trash.
Lebron lost on his 39th birthday when the LA Lakers played the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the potential game-tying shot being declared by refs as a 2-pointer instead of a 3-point shot. Let me tell you, Lebron wasn’t happy with that call & has let all of Blue Ivy’s internet know it. But happy birthday, Bronny Boo!
Side of hot goss with your sports?
Don’t mind if we do! Like most communities, there is plenty of stuff happening around the sports world, and sometimes, it can get a little messy. But let’s be honest, it’s the mess we love. This week, all the buzz is about singer Ciara’s hubby, Russell Wilson.
In 2022, Russell signed a $245M 5-year contract extension with the Denver Broncos. He is guaranteed close to $40M within the contract for the next two years, regardless of whether he is injured.
His boss, head coach Sean Payton, decided to bench him for the remainder of the season if he didn’t agree to restructure his contract and remove the injury clause. Russell basically said, “It’s a no for me,” so petty Payton pulled him for the rest of the season.
Like most of us, he’s having some issues with his boss. How relatable.
Now You’re Speaking My Language
Your sports term of the week
The Tush Push - a football term that refers to a unique quarterback sneak where the quarterback attempts to drive the ball forward by having multiple players lined up behind him that give him a push from behind to propel him forward.
What it looks like IRL: Your local hangout spot is crowded, so your friend group picks one person to get drinks. You help move the lucky girl through the crowd by giving them gentle shoves and momentum that help break through the people between them and the bar.
Sports, But Make It Fashion
Here are some of our fav NBA Christmas game day looks that we couldn’t leave behind in 2023. To begin, apparently, on Christmas, we wear pink!
@bleacherreport Steph & Aaron Gordon both wore pink suits on X-mas 🙃 (via @NBA) #nba #basketball #stephcurry #aarongordon
We scoured the net so our readers could find this look ASAP. You can shop it on ASOS.
Next up in holiday looks, we spotted a maroon suit trend that filled us with joy and cheer.
Jayson Tatum and Dwight Powell looking like fine Christmas wine.
Of course, we found a similar look for you to rock as fast as you can enter your CVV. Head over to Farm Rio for the blazer.
And don’t forget these incredible pants.
